Pensions specialist Just Retirement have reported record annuity sales for Q3 and Q4 of 2009. The company generated an impressive £349million worth of annuity sales in this period, which was an increase of nearly one third on the same period in 2008. Applications for enhanced annuities were also at record levels last year according to the company. Overall sales grew by 26 per cent to £446million – this included sales of equity release.
Mike Fuller who is the Chief Executive Officer at the company praised his company’s performance saying that “…Just Retirement faced the challenges of the global financial crisis in 2008 and 2009 with a clear strategy. Profitability and capital were the two cornerstones of this approach.” He added that the company had made a positive start to 2010 and that he was looking forward to a successful year ahead.
No doubt Mr Fuller will have been pleased with the news that rates for annuities experienced a small increase at the start of this year.
